Code of Conduct, Waiver and Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Hold Harmless Agreement

Code of Conduct*

• Sailors are expected to be respectful of staff and each other at all times. There will be no pushing, shoving, hitting, threatening, bullying, horseplay, or use of profanity with fellow sailors or staff.

• Sailors are expected to be respectful of the Club property and sailing equipment at all times. Intentionally capsizing (unless directed) or hitting boats is strictly forbidden and in the case of damage, parents may be required to assume financial responsibility for the cost of repairs.

• In accordance with Club policy, all sailors younger than 9 years of age are required to wear a life jacket at all times while on LCYC property.

• All sailors and staff, regardless of age, are required to wear a life jacket while on the water.

• No running on the docks.

• Sailors may not swim without permission and supervision from a staff member.

• Weapons of any kind are prohibited.

• It is the responsibility of every parent to ensure that their child has a local parent/guardian who is always reachable and available to do an unexpected pick-up if necessary, as occasional medical or weather emergencies do arise.

• All sailors are responsible for cleaning up the LCYC property and putting away the boats and sails before they leave for home.

Violations of these rules will be addressed on an individual basis and may result in a call to parents/guardians to discuss consequences.

Responsibility*

The undersigned parent or legal guardian of the sailor, a minor child (hereinafter referred to as “my child”), requests that my child be allowed to participate in any and all activities associated with the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club, including but not limited to sailing, tennis, swimming, the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club Junior Sailing Camp, and the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club Youth Sailing Program (collectively, the “Activities”). In consideration for my child being permitted to take part in the Activities and to use the facilities and property of the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club and their affiliated organizations, I make the following promises, acknowledgements, understandings, and agreements, and state:
I am familiar with the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club programs including all associated Activities, and I understand that officers, directors and employees of the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club are available to discuss the Activities if I should wish additional information. I also understand that I am solely responsible for the arrival and departure of my child at the beginning and end of each day’s Activities. I will not allow my child to remain on the premises of the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club after each day’s Activities without appropriate supervision and permission of the Les Cheneaux Yacht Club. I will inform my child that she/he is expected to cooperate with and follow the directions of the person in charge of the Activities and to act in a manner consistent with the spirit of good sportsmanship and respect for the rights of others.
